Today I was sitting at my desk, in my usual daydream state when I noticed something about the people in the room. They all in some way or another appeared anxious or stressed. Some were doing that unconscious leg shake thing, others were devouring sugary products at an impressive rate, the rest just seemed like they didn’t want to be where they were.
Now, I work in the fast paced, high pressure digital media industry so stress is sometimes part of the territory. I have, during my time in this industry, witness people let the environment take their soul, their happiness, that light that made them human. They became dark and unhappy. I’m not even sure if they knew but as I looked around that room today I saw signs of stress and anxiety that these people weren’t even aware of. They were asleep to their troubles and therefore were unable to change them.
If you are unhappy with a certain aspect of your life then the first step towards changing it is being aware that it needs changing. Say you don’t like your job but aren’t able to leave immediately, you have bills to pay and quitting would just create more unhappiness elsewhere in your life. What you can do is begin to put some money aside each month, make a plan of your next steps and set the wheels of change in motion. Once you take control and create a plan you will begin to feel better because you know you’re steering the ship of your life. Each day wake up and think about that end goal. It will make you aware of why you are doing what you are doing. You are creating your future happiness! Imagine what the world would be like if everyone was living their ideal scenarios on a daily basis.
