When I was in my late teens I used to love the party scene. I’d spend all week looking forward to Thursday (the unofficial start of the party goers weekend), then I’d spend the next 4 nights dancing till dawn with my equally wild friends.
After years of this lifestyles my body and mind started to crave something different, rest probably. I began balancing out my week between all-nighters and yoga. Eventually, over time, yoga became more important so I’d head home early from nights out so I didn’t miss my 8am yoga class. And so the transition had begun, from wild parties, drinks and donks to downward dogs, meditation and gongs.
I know so many people within this yoga community that have such similar stories to mine. Even my own yoga teacher was a DJ at the famous Hacienda nightclub before swapping his mixing deck for a yoga mat. A misspent youth is what now connects us all in our wellness journey, allowing our bodies to heal, our minds to feel at peace and how hearts to be thankful for every step that has brought us to the place we are now.
Those party animal instincts don’t just go away though, we may have collectively found other passions in life; be it yoga, meditation, sound baths or natural living but whenever we hear that familiar bass kick in, our hearts skip a little beat.
That’s why I got so excited when I heard about this new trend in merging yoga and wellness with a music festival. The outcome, FloVibe Festival!
In their own words, FloVibe is a festival ‘born out of a desire to be wild and live well’. Yes, people, it is possible to live the healthiest of lifestyles but still have that wild child inside. That’s why the team at FloVibe have created this blissful weekend filled with yoga classes taught by some of the UK’s most sought after studios, including House of Yoga and YogaHaven.
That’s not all that’s on offer. You can try your first ever guided meditation, your first ever sound bath (highly recommended for sure!), or indulge in a deeply relaxing massage. Then as the sun sets on the perfect June day you can dance the night away with live acts, DJs, performers and more!
It promises to be a weekend filled with love, growth and connectedness but most importantly, fun!
I mean, what’s the point of clean living if you can’t get a little dirty first?
I’m super excited to offer you guys tickets to the yoga festival here. Simply enter ‘northernyogifv’ when purchasing your tickets online.
